Hourly & Session Payment Instructions

These instructions apply to work paid by the hour: daily and weekly agreements, and instant hourly sessions. By approving such an agreement or starting a session you instruct Aiyubot to bill and pay as described here.

1. Daily and weekly agreements

  • An agreement sets an hourly rate, a length (1 to 365 days, or 1 to 52 weeks), the working days for weekly agreements, and a daily cap of 1 to 24 hours. It starts when both parties approve it.
  • An agreement can roll over one period at a time, up to 365 days or 52 weeks in total; both parties are notified 24 hours before the first extension.
  • Either party can pause an agreement; resuming needs the other party's approval. Either party can change the length of a running agreement, and the change takes effect immediately.
  • Either party can end an agreement at any time by giving a reason. The final, partly worked period is billed. An agreement ended this way cannot be restarted.

2. The work diary

Experts record time in the work diary with the timer or by adding manual entries, with a note describing the work (a note is required when you stop the timer) and, optionally, files. Aiyubot does not take screenshots of your screen or track your activity.

  • You can run only one timer at a time, across all your clients.
  • Manual entries must fall within the agreement's term, cannot be in the future, and cannot take a day past the daily cap.
  • Once a period is billed, its entries are locked.
  • Log only time you actually spent on the client's work. False or inflated entries are fraud: Aiyubot may reverse the payments involved and close your account.

3. Hour caps and extensions

Each period has a cap: the daily cap on daily agreements, and the daily cap times the working days (five days if none were set) on weekly agreements. When the cap is reached, the timer stops. One more hour can be added only if both parties approve; if either party rejects the extension, the agreement ends. Hours above the cap are not billed.

4. Billing each period

Nothing is charged up front. When each period ends, the client is billed for the hours logged in it times the hourly rate. By default the client's saved card is charged automatically; the client can switch the agreement to manual invoices.

  • If the client has no saved card, the period is invoiced. If a charge is declined, the period stays payable and both parties are notified.
  • Unpaid periods stay payable and the agreement keeps running. Either party can pause or end it at any time.
  • A period worth less than US$0.50 rolls into the next one; a final part-period under US$0.50 is not billed.
  • Your earning for a period exists only once the client has paid for it. Aiyubot does not guarantee payment of an unpaid period.

5. Release of period payments

A period is released to you as soon as the client pays for it, and is held for 7 days and until our payment processor settles it before you can withdraw it. Periods have no submit, review or request-changes step, and the client has no review window on them: clients should raise questions about logged hours with you, or with Aiyubot support, before a period is paid.

6. Instant hourly sessions

An instant session starts only when the client, who must have a saved card, approves it. Each full hour is charged as it is worked. If a charge fails, the session pauses; a session paused for more than 72 hours completes automatically. When a session completes, the exact amount for the time worked is settled and any overcharge is refunded to the client, and the client then has 7 days to review it, as for a milestone.

7. Bonuses and expenses

Clients may add a bonus or reimburse an expense on hourly work as described in the Milestone Payment Instructions.
